Thursday was quite the day for the Indiana Pacers.
They traded James Wiseman for... well, nothing. They also traded their fans sleep schedule and sanity for a win. There’s a lot to discuss, and it took two podcasts.
Wiseman was always the most likely Pacer to be moved. He was cheap and on a minimum deal, so he could be flipped anywhere. But his season was over after an Achilles tear, and having dead money on the books with little long-term upside made no sense for the Pacers.
They sent him with cash considerations to the Toronto Raptors. They got back a fake second round pick , essentially nothing. This allows the Pacers to use 10-day contracts, convert a two-way, or any number of other things. It’s a shrewd move, and Derek Kramer joins to break it down.
They, deep into the night in the Eastern Time Zone, Indiana beat the LA Clippers in a crazy game. There was several lengthy runs, and the Pacers had just a few more of them.
Pascal Siakam was amazing, and Bennedict Mathurin was excellent. Those two, combined with Tyrese Haliburton and Thomas Bryant, played a perfect final 200 seconds to get the win.
Two podcasts today, one on the trade, and one on the game. Enjoy!
