Jimmy Butler’s suspension is over, and he’s expected to suit up for the Heat’s game against the Orlando Magic on Monday. But here’s the million-dollar question: Should he even step on the court?

Look, I get it. The Heat are in a tough spot. But playing Butler right now doesn’t make sense for anyone involved. Here’s why:

• Butler’s effort has been questionable at best. We’ve all seen it - there’s a clear on/off switch with Jimmy, and lately, it’s been firmly in the “off” position.

• He’s become a distraction on the court. The team has to play around him, and you never know which version of Jimmy you’re getting from possession to possession.

• There’s an injury risk. Why risk Butler getting hurt when he’s clearly not giving it his all?

• It sends the wrong message to the rest of the team. Playing Butler says he’s more important than the group, even though he’s checked out.

The smart move? Let him sit on the bench. Yeah, it might invite some questions, but come on - we all know what’s happening here. The Heat need to stop pretending this trade request isn’t real.

Winning games has to be the priority right now. And let’s be honest, Jimmy Butler on the court isn’t helping this team win. He’s actually making them worse.

I hope I’m wrong, but I have a feeling the Heat are going to start him anyway. They’ve been trying to avoid this whole situation, but at some point, you’ve got to face reality.

The trade talks are still ongoing, but it’s taking longer than expected. The Suns are shopping around different frameworks to other teams, trying to piece together a deal that works for everyone. It’s complicated, with potentially 4-5 teams involved.

Here’s the bottom line:

• The Heat need a pathway to their next move when trading Butler.

• They’re not getting a superstar back in return.

• Bradley Beal isn’t the answer - he’s not the player he was five years ago.

• Taking on Beal’s contract would limit Miami’s options in the 2026 free agency market.

It’s a tough situation, but the Heat need to prioritize their future. Playing Butler now doesn’t help anyone. It’s time to rip off the band-aid and move forward.
