Title: Clippers Grind Out Tough Win Against Pelicans, Powell Shines

The LA Clippers secured a hard-fought 116-113 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, extending their winning streak to three games. This win wasn’t pretty, but it showcased the team’s resilience and ability to overcome adversity.

The Pelicans came out hot, shooting an impressive 7-for-13 from three-point range in the first quarter. Trey Murphy and Herb Jones each knocked down three triples, helping New Orleans build a 14-point lead in the second quarter. Despite the Pelicans’ hot shooting, the Clippers managed to weather the storm and keep the game within reach.

Norman Powell was the standout performer for the Clippers, erupting for 35 points, including 31 in the second and fourth quarters combined. His relentless attacking mentality and quick trigger proved crucial in keeping the team afloat during tough stretches. Powell’s performance is part of a larger trend, as he’s been playing at an All-Star level this season.

James Harden, despite struggling with turnovers and defense, made significant contributions to the win. He knocked down crucial free throws down the stretch and finished with 27 points, including five three-pointers. The Clippers are now 11-0 when Harden attempts 10 or more free throws in a game.

Ivica Zubac continued his strong play, posting a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds. His improved play this season has silenced critics who questioned his ability to be a starting center in the NBA.

The Clippers’ bench also played a crucial role in the victory. Chris Dunn and Derrick Jones Jr. provided excellent defense and energy, while Nicolas Batum contributed in various ways despite minimal scoring.

This win improves the Clippers’ record to 19-13, creating separation from the .500 mark and solidifying their position as a formidable team in the Western Conference. The team’s ability to grind out tough wins on the road bodes well for their playoff aspirations.
