The Atlanta Hawks finished their NBA Cup run this weekend in Las Vegas. In between the Saturday loss to the Milwaukee Bucks and the team’s next game against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday, the Hawks elected to make a roster move.
On Tuesday evening, word broke from Mike Scotto of HoopsHype that the Hawks were waiving Two-Way wing Seth Lundy. That news has since been confirmed by multiple sources.
Lundy has been sidelined for the entire 2024-25 season due to an ankle injury that he suffered during training camp. The second-year wing from Penn State did connect on a game-winning shot in a preseason game, but it has otherwise been a lost season for Lundy.
The 24-year-old could return to on-court action in the coming weeks, but the takeaway for the Hawks is that the team will now have an open Two-Way slot, should they choose to fill it. One candidate is second round pick Nikola Djurisic. Djurisic has struggled mightily in the G League to this point, but the Hawks did invest a top-45 pick in him just six months ago. Lundy’s spot could also be filled by a player outside the organization, or the Hawks could leave it open for some period of time.
Lundy does have a coveted skill set as a player with wing size who can shoot at a high level. He was genuinely good in the G League across 25 games last season, averaging 20.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game with 46/40/80 shooting splits. On the other hand, Lundy’s injuries have been ill-timed, and he is a relatively limited athlete who won’t change the world on defense. Long-term, Lundy has the tools to be an NBA player, but his next steps will likely be with another organization.
