Clippers Secure Best Win of the Season Against Memphis Grizzlies

The Los Angeles Clippers just notched their most impressive victory of the season, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 114-110 on the road. This win is particularly significant as the Grizzlies were the only team in the NBA with both a top-five offensive and defensive rating going into Monday’s game.

Ivica Zubac led the charge with a near 20-20 performance, posting 20 points and 19 rebounds. His dominance in the paint was crucial, especially in shutting down Ja Morant’s attempts to attack the rim. Zubac’s presence was felt throughout the game, playing a team-high 40 minutes and finishing with a game-high plus-17 rating.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with the Clippers trailing by 7 at halftime. However, they turned things around in the third quarter with two significant runs. A 17-3 run followed by a 10-2 run helped the Clippers take control of the game.

Harden and Powell Step Up

James Harden and Norman Powell were instrumental in securing the win. Harden finished with a near triple-double, contributing 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists. His ability to get to the free-throw line was crucial, as the Clippers are undefeated this season when Harden attempts 10 or more free throws.

Powell came up big in the fourth quarter, hitting clutch shots and free throws to seal the victory. He ended the game with 29 points on efficient 10-for-20 shooting, including 4-for-8 from beyond the arc.

Defense Wins Games

The Clippers’ defense was the real star of the show, forcing 20 turnovers and scoring 31 points off those turnovers. Chris Dunn and Derrick Jones Jr. were particularly effective in disrupting the Grizzlies’ offense with their active hands and athleticism in the passing lanes.

This defensive prowess is what allows the Clippers to compete with any team on any given night. Even when their shots aren’t falling, their ability to muck up the game and make it difficult for opponents keeps them in contention.
